The popularity of getting "inked" or tattooed is having a resurgence worldwide. Young and old people have found tattoos as a means of self-expression aside from its decorative effects on the body. Technology advancements in pigments and equipment have allowed the creation of high quality monochrome and multi-colored tattoos with a high level of graphical detail.Tattoos as a form of body art has been elevated into a contemporary art form starting from the 90's. Exhibitions featuring photographs or printed designs of the tattoos called "tattoo flash" became pervasive. In some visual art exhibitions, people with tattoos are actually lined up to showcase the works of the artist. Tattoo Flash is now the prevailing portable media used in tattoo art. A lot of this is found on now the internet and can be downloaded and printed. This can then be shown to the artist as a pattern for one's desired tattoo.
With the difficulty of having a portable media like a canvass. Tattoo art exhibits get limited to displaying photographs of subjects and the use of flash prints. There is of course losses in the three dimensional attribute of the art work. Tattoo artists also make use of the contours of the body and the curves of the muscle as a design element. This can easily be appreciated when one sees a full sleeve tattoo on a muscular arm versus a print. The artistic effect of a colored cobra or dragon coiled around an arm is lost if it is only seen as a print out or a photograph.
In the past couple of years, a new fashion or novelty item has been introduced in the market called a tattoo sleeve or tattoo arm warmer. This is made of a thin stocking like stretchable material that is then printed with tattoo art. When worn on the arms, these sleeves blend well with the contours of the arm. The design looks very authentic since it is skin tight and the stretching of the fabric brings out the three dimensional effect of the subjects in the tattoo sleeve design. The raging wolf or the fearful skull in the tattoo sleeve design stands out when the biceps flex or when the arm is fully stretched.
The wearable tattoo sleeve has been used by some tattoo artists to mass produce their designs and make it a pop culture commodity. Many kids and adults want the "inked" look but would not want to go through the pain of getting inked. The wearable tattoo sleeve is the answer. This makes it as a fashion accessory that can be worn and matched with one's get up. And last but not least, the wearable tattoo sleeve provides a new media to exhibit tattoo art, at least for the full arm length designs.
A new decade has arrived. It has been ten whole years since the dawn of Y2K and despite all the negativity and dread leading up to the dawning on the new millennium the world hasn't ended. Life continues to advance and if you are reading this then it is safe to say that you are alive and well in 2010 a whole decade on from Y2K.So how are you planning to celebrate this new decade? I thought I'd do something that I had always wanted to but never had the guts to follow through with, Yes I was going to get a tattoo nothing too special just my lucky number in roman numerals. Getting a tattoo, if done stylishly, can actually be quick attractive and with the level of tattoo accessories that the tattoo artists use these day you really do get your moneys worth.
Years ago getting a tattoo was a bit hit and miss. The equipment and tattoo accessories used were quite tricky to use and sometimes you may end up with a design or body art that you may live to regret. Thankfully like all sectors the tattoo industry has continued to enhance and develop and now they are at the stage where it is fair easier and medically safer to get your tattoo performed thanks to these new tattoo accessories. At least that is what the artist told me who performed mine.
Obviously a big concern for people when they go to get tattoos is the risk of infection. You constantly hear horror stories on the internet about celebrities who have been infected by an unsterilised needle. Obviously this is more down to a case of where you get your tattoo performed and their hygiene standards rather than a fault with the actual tattoo accessories themselves. However, with the enhancement in tattoo accessories the cost of the equipment has come down meaning there is no need for unsterilised or dirty equipment.
I was always worried about what it would feel like. I had seen several people have tattoos performed but this was to be my first. To be honest it wasn't as bad as I was thinking, it felt more like someone scratching at your arm, there was the odd occasion when you could feel the needle more but on the whole it was an enjoyable experience and I'm really pleased with the way it has turned out. The only thing I need to do now is resist the urge to get any more.

The popularity of tattoos is exploding; everywhere I go I see tattoo art on somebody. I've wanted one for a long time and yet I want my first to be a unique and original tattoo design. I want the perfect first tattoo after all it may be the only one I ever get. Then I may get the obsession others have and get more. What ever the case I want my first to be original and different, something that turns heads on the street because it hasn't been done yet.Going into a tattoo shop to look at designs can be intimidating. The artist inside seem as if they expect you to get that new tat now. They're much desensitized to giving them and seeing them day in and out. I think they forget how big it can be for a first timer.
So I offer this advice. If you're looking for the perfect tattoo you can now explore designs and art online. I've been looking and have found I can explore all my options while online checking out some amazing stuff. Now it takes me forever to make up my mind and you may be like me. What ever your case is you can take your time and find just the right tat for you by looking through art galleries on the internet.
After you take your time and find the perfect body art for you online you can take it to your local tattoo shop and go in like you know what you're doing. You will also want to educate yourself on tattoo procedures and watch videos of it to know what to expect. All in all you can do your leg work before you set foot in the shop. This will make you much happier and not leave you with any regret.
I'm having a great time sorting through all the great body art to find the one perfect first for me. I can't wait but I know I want it to be a special piece that I will look upon fondly forever. So if you've been wondering will it hurt, how long will it take and where to find the best and freshest designs the internet is the place to educate yourself.
